Privacy
Your information deserves clarity.
1. What Kaslo does
Kaslo is a job discovery and application-support service for product designers. Jobs.kaslo helps you browse and shortlist job listings. My.kaslo is the signed-in workspace where you can build a Work Profile, define My Story, track roles, compare fit, and generate application or interview materials with AI.
Because the product depends on your job-search context, some of the information you provide may be personal and career-sensitive. We try to use it for the product experience you asked for, not for unrelated advertising.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created while you use the service, and limited technical information needed to run it.
Account information. When you sign in, our authentication provider (currently Clerk) may process your name, email address, authentication identifiers, sign-in method, session information, and related account metadata.
Work Profile and career materials. You may provide resume text, LinkedIn headline/about/experience text, LinkedIn URL, portfolio URL, current title, years of experience, specialties, positioning, notable strengths, projects, notes, and other professional background. Kaslo uses this to build your Work Profile and support application materials.
My Story and job-search preferences. You may provide target role, seniority, work mode, compensation range, specialties, skills, and other search preferences. Kaslo uses this to rank jobs, explain fit, and sync your search story between Jobs.kaslo and My.kaslo.
Job and workflow data. We collect the jobs you add, save, ignore, review, or send to My.kaslo; job notes and status; generated fit scores; decoded job overviews; tailored drafts; interview prep; coaching notes; billing-plan state; credits; and usage events needed to operate the product.
Some job-level data describes public postings rather than you. For example, a neutral decode of a public job posting may be reused across users so the same posting does not need to be decoded again. Your personal notes, status, fit, and generated materials remain tied to your account.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Polar or another payment processor identified in the product. We do not store full card numbers. We may receive and store billing metadata such as your plan, subscription status, customer ID, email, payment events, renewal dates, cancellation status, and credit-pack purchases.
Technical information. We may collect IP address, device/browser information, log data, request timestamps, error information, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP, and similar operational data. We use this for security, debugging, reliability, abuse prevention, and product operations.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and maintain Kaslo; authenticate accounts; build and update your Work Profile and My Story; rank and filter jobs; generate decoded overviews, fit briefs, cover letters, resume summaries, coaching, and interview prep; save your jobs, notes, status, deck, and preferences; process subscriptions and credit packs; detect errors; prevent abuse; secure the service; comply with law; and improve product quality.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your Work Profile, resume, My Story, notes, or generated application materials for third-party advertising.
4. AI processing
Kaslo uses AI providers (currently OpenAI API for certain generation and decoding workflows) to help interpret job postings, compare them with your profile, and generate application-support materials.
When you ask Kaslo to generate or decode something, relevant inputs may be sent to an AI provider. Depending on the feature, this can include the job description, cleaned posting text, your Work Profile, My Story, baseline templates, notes, and generated context needed to create the requested output.
AI outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate. Review generated materials before using them. Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or third-party information that you are not authorized to use.
We do not intentionally submit your materials to public chatbot sessions. We use API-based providers to operate the product. Provider retention and model-training treatment are governed by our provider agreements and their posted terms; we will update this Policy if our practices materially change.
5. Service providers
We share information with service providers that help operate Kaslo. These may include Clerk for authentication; Polar for payments, subscriptions, invoices, billing portal, and webhooks; OpenAI or other AI providers for generation, summarization, ranking support, and job decoding workflows; hosting and infrastructure providers such as Railway and OpenAI/ChatGPT Sites; job-source providers and employer career sites when collecting or linking to public job postings; and email, logging, analytics, security, or support tools if we add them to operate the service.
These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
6. Cookies and browser storage
Kaslo uses cookies, local storage, and similar browser storage for essential product behavior, including sign-in sessions, cross-subdomain My Story clearing, Jobs.kaslo deck/selection state, preferences, and reliability.
Jobs.kaslo may store temporary deck and selection data in local storage on your device. My.kaslo uses authenticated server-side data for account-backed workspace features. Clerk and other providers may set cookies needed for authentication and security.
We do not currently describe any interest-based advertising cookies as part of Kaslo. If that changes, we will update this Policy and provide any required choices.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account, profile, job, generated-material, and billing information for as long as needed to provide Kaslo, maintain your account, comply with legal or tax obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and operate backups.
You can edit or delete some information in the product. You can request deletion by contacting us at kaslo.app@gmail.com. We may retain limited records where required by law, for security, for billing/tax records, or in backups for a reasonable period.
If you stop using Kaslo, we may delete inactive account data after a reasonable period. Jobs.kaslo local-storage data can also be cleared by your browser or by the product's own cleanup rules.
8. Your choices
You may update Work Profile and My Story information in My.kaslo; delete or clear certain job-search data in the product; cancel paid subscriptions through the Polar billing portal; ask us to access, correct, export, or delete personal information; and ask how a feature uses your information.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under laws such as the Colorado Privacy Act, other U.S. state privacy laws, or GDPR/UK GDPR. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No internet service is perfectly secure. Keep your account credentials private and contact us if you believe your account or data has been compromised.
10. International processing
Kaslo is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States or other places where we or our providers operate. Those places may have different privacy laws than your location.
11. Children
Kaslo is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kaslo changes. We will post the updated version here and change the date above. If a change is material, we will try to provide reasonable notice by email or in the product.
